Step Back in Time

Spending a day sailing and cruising the St. John's River will bring you through protected areas that have not, and will not, be altered my man. You will see terrain and wildlife living naturally as they have been for hundreds of years. Exploring the vast number of channels and streams breaking off of the river will bring a peaceful wave of quiet and maybe a new love for untainted nature.

pro-blair-pic5.jpg (38167 bytes)The St. Johns provides a major route for commercial shipping and has one of the largest ports on the East Coast, in Jacksonville. Commercial and sportfishing on the river is a multimillion dollar industry. Boating of all kinds flourishes along the river, creating one of the region's most viable industries and recreational opportunities. Many hiking and jogging trails, including the Florida National Scenic Trail, wind their way along the river.

The river supports a diverse array of wildlife, from bald eagles to blue herons to the endangered manatee. The lower stretch, where river water mixes with saltwater from the Atlantic, forms an estuary supporting shrimp and oysters. Dolphins often make their way 20 miles upriver, and can be spotted by office workers in Jacksonville high-rises.

Silver GlennsSilver Glen Springs is located on the St. Johns River within the Ocala National Forest, engulfing one of the most beautiful landscapes in Florida. Most boat enthusiasts consider it the most popular spot for holiday, weekend, boating and water sports in the Central Florida Area.

Once you explore the mostly calm and comforting effects of the river, you can open your boat up and cruise the open waters of Lake George, feeling the fresh air rush past you as you again settle in a state of unity with nature.

Lake George is the second-largest freshwater lake (only Lake Okeechobee is bigger) in the Sunshine State and the largest along the trace of the St. Johns River. Covering some 46,000 acres (14 miles by 6 miles), George lies approximately half-way between the headwaters of the St. Johns River (the Melbourne/Palm Bay area) and the river's closure with the mighty Atlantic Ocean at Jacksonville.

As with most Florida lakes and rivers, Lake George has a number of very specific 'personal' traits and characteristics which give it a distinctiveness all its own.
